Any person who meets the criteria of “Voting member” of the Richwood Volunteer Fire Department as defined by their Constitution and By-Laws will receive the first 4,000 gallons free and then be charged $6.14 per each additional 1,000 gallons of usage

Solid Waste services are provided via service contract by Waste Connections. Richwood Solid Waste services include residential trash and recycle, commercial trash and heavy trash. Richwood only facilitates residential and heavy trash services. Any commercial business must obtain commercial dumpsters and dumpster service directly from Waste Connections.

Residential solid waste services take place 2 days a week and provides one round a week for all residential solid waste pick-up. All residential refuse must be placed in 96-gallon trash caddy. The caddy lid most be completely closed and not weigh more than 250 lbs. Residential recycle pickup takes place every other Thursday of the month. January 9th, 2020 will be the first recycle pickup of the new year.

Heavy Trash pick-up will take place the first Monday of every month. Heavy Trash pick-up is provided once a month. Heavy Trash services will not pick up any pile of debris that contain:

  1. larger than 5 cubic yards
  2. tires or electronics
  3. white goods (appliances such as refrigerators, microwaves, dishwashers)
  4. any chemical of any kind
  5. concrete
  6. construction debris (small amounts of construction debris will be picked if it can be proven that the homeowner is performing construction work. No amounts in excess of 5 cubic yards. Contractors performing home construction must either provide a trailer for construction debris removal or have a roll-off dumpster delivered on site.)
  7. sealed paint cans (paint cans will be picked up if lids are off and paint contents are completely dry)

Heavy trash may not be put to the roadside earlier that the Saturday before scheduled pickup any small yard debris such as leaves or twigs nee to be bagged in order to be pickup during Heavy Trash. Yard debris such as stick, limbs, twigs, and leaves may be disposed of utilizing a 96-gallon trash caddy. Trash caddy lids most be completely closed and not exceed 250 lbs.

First right of refusal is stated in the contractual agreement between Richwood and Waste Connections.

Waste Connections has the first right of refusal regarding roll-off dumpster services. If a customer needs roll-off services and Waste Connections cannot accommodate the customers request within 72 hours of making that request, residents my pursue roll-off services from any preferred dumpster provider.
