The City of Richwood’s General Election is usually held in May of each year. In odd years the position of Mayor, Council Position 2, and Council Position 3 are open.  In even years, Council Position 1, Council Position 4, and Council Position 5 are open.

All candidates running for the office of the City of Richwood must be a resident citizen of the City of Richwood, a qualified voter of the State of Texas, at least twenty-one (21) years of age, and have been a resident of the City of Richwood for at least 1 year prior to the election.   The term of office for City Council positions is 2 years.

CAMPAIGN FINANCE REPORTS
Reporting requirements and other regulations are set out in Title 15 of the Texas Election Code (Ch. 251-259) and the rules adopted by the Texas Ethics Commission. Officeholders, as well as candidates, are subject to regulation under Title 15. Officeholders, as well as candidates, are required by state law to file campaign finance reports (Form C/OH) with the City Secretary’s Office. Reporting requirements end when a candidate has filed a final report with the City Secretary.

You may also vote at any of the other Early Voting Locations within Brazoria County. Please note that a valid photo I.D. is now required to vote in person.

Election Day Voting Locations & Times
All voters casting their ballots on Election Day may do so at the Richwood City Hall, 1800 Brazosport Blvd, Richwood, TX from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.  You may also vote at any of the other Vote Centers within Brazoria County.  Please note that a valid photo I.D. is required to vote in person.

Voter Registration

It is the duty of the candidate to become familiar with the laws that apply to campaigns for office.

The City Secretary is responsible only for accepting and filing the various applications, affidavits, and statements, and noting the date and time of filing.

The City Secretary should not be expected to judge or comment upon the timeliness or sufficiency of reports filed.
