The City of Richwood operates under the Council-Manager form of government. The City Council is composed of a Mayor and five Council Members, who serve staggered two-year terms and are elected at-large.

Residents may contact any member of the City Council, as officials represent the community as a whole and are not assigned to specific geographic areas.

MEETINGS

The Mayor and City Council hold regular City Council meetings on the second Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers, located at 1800 Brazosport Blvd. N., Richwood, Texas, unless otherwise rescheduled by a majority of the City Council.

All meetings are open to the public, except for portions conducted in Executive Session as authorized by the Texas Open Meetings Act. A quorum of the City Council must be present to conduct official business.

In accordance with state law, written notice of each meeting, including the date, time, location, and subject(s) to be considered, is posted at least three (3) business days prior to the meeting.

City Council has adopted procedures to allow for public comment during regular meetings. Citizens may address the Council during the designated public comment period, with comments limited to three (3) minutes per speaker.

Pursuant to the Texas Open Meetings Act, Council Members are generally prohibited from responding to or engaging in discussion on items not listed on the posted agenda.

If multiple individuals wish to speak on the same topic, the group is encouraged to designate a spokesperson to present their comments.
