Public notice- water odor

Richwood Public Works has received some concerns of water containing a rotten egg odor. This occurrence is taking place primarily south of College Drive. This is due to naturally occurring hydrogen sulfide gas within the groundwater and does not pose any risk to public health. It is assumed that odor within in the water supply has also increased due to the alteration of distribution pressure caused from closing 288B main-line water distribution valves to perform recent distribution system repairs at Cottonwood Dr. Over the next several days Richwood Public Works will be performing maintenance hydrant flushing in the area to help illuminate the order. If there are any questions, please feel free to contact Richwood’s Public Works Director, Clif Custer at (979)265-2082, option 5.
