WHAT!? IT’S ALREADY THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!? THAT’S RIGHT FOLKS!
The first day of school at Polk Elementary School is upon us and we at the police department are super excited about the newly created vehicle stacking lanes. Yes, folks, no more blocking the travel portion of the roadway. No more one-way motoring inconvenience. No more extreme traffic congestion. No more blocking driveways. Instead, vehicles will be able to queue up off street in the school’s very own dual stacking lanes. WOO HOO! Way to go BISD!!!
Over the last few weeks, officers of the Richwood Police Department have been working hand in hand with the leadership of Polk Elementary to ensure a great start to the new school year. We have collaborated and devised what we believe is a pretty solid plan regarding traffic and pedestrian flow.
We are asking that all parents, using motor vehicles to drop off/pick up their children at/from Polk Elementary, approach from the north (Wisteria Street) on Audubon Woods Drive and enter the northside entry/exit of the Polk campus, vehicles can then utilize both lanes to stack up for drop off or pick up. When exiting, we are asking parents to make a right turn and leave southwardly on Audubon Woods Drive.
Naturally, the Richwood Police Department will be on scene in numbers for the first week to monitor traffic flow and make any necessary adjustments. We ask all motorists in the area to be patient with us and each other while we work to ensure a safe environment for you and your children.
The Richwood Police Department wishes all the students, teachers, support staff, and administrators a productive and enjoyable school year. GO POLK PANDAS!
