On Thursday, January 9th, 2025, the City of Richwood will be engaged in elevated water tower maintenance in the form of a wash-out at the 250,000-gallon elevated water tower located on FM 2004. This type of maintenance is performed every couple of years and is part of Richwood’s required compliance with TCEQ’s guidelines. A wash-out requires draining of the tower. When the 250,000-gallon elevated tank is drained, Richwood’s elevated water capacity, which produces pressure for the distribution system, will be reduced from 325,000 gallons to 75,000 gallons. Due to this, reduced pressure effects could be noticed, especially at the far north and southern ends of town. Richwood Public Works will utilize booster pumps to mitigate any pressure effects.
This required maintenance should be accomplished within a single day and performed during the daytime between peak water usage hours. If you have any questions regarding Richwood’s elevated water tower maintenance schedule, please get in touch with the Director of Public Works, Clif Custer, at (979) 265-2082, option 5.
