This department is charged with the production, storage and distribution of the potable water throughout the City of Richwood in accordance with requirements fo the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission, the Texas Department of Health, the Texas Commission on Fire Protection and the United States Environmental Protection Agency.
The City has a take or pay agreement to purchase 235,000 gallons per day from Brazosport Water Authority. The surface water purchased from BWA is supplemented by the City’s water well.
The Water/Sewer department is also responsible for the collection of all wastewater and its transmission to the Sewage Treatment Plant. It includes the operation, maintenance and repair of all lines, manholes and lift stations connected with the sewer collection system up to and including the College Drive lift station.
The City of Richwood owns 25% of the jointly owned Clute/Richwood Sewage Treatment Plant.
