It is an 8 week program where participants will have the opportunity to learn about city departments and the people who provide the services.

Program Overview:
 Richwood U is a program designed to provide insight and information into services provided by the City as well as to open a venue for communication between the participants and city staff.   Richwood U “students” will have several opportunities to participate in some hands-on activities and visit various municipal facilities throughout the city.

Currently it is envisioned to be a eight week program held every Tuesday from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. with the exception of Public Works which will be Saturday, October 10th and the Council Meeting/Graduation which will be Monday, November 9th.  The graduation ceremony would be held at a City Council meeting at the conclusion of the program.   The program will be opened to those 17 years of age or older.   Class size shall not exceed fifteen and there will be no registration fee.

To provide insight and information into services provided by the City as well as to open a venue for communication between the participants and city staff.

City Council Chambers

Program Duration:
7:00 pm to 9:00 pm with the exception of Public Works and City Council

Participant Qualifications:
17 years or older

City of Richwood earns a PLATINUM Leadership Circle Award for Local Government Transparency.

The City of Richwood has earned a PLATINUM Leadership Circle Award by scoring 22 out of 23 possible points on the rating criteria set out by the Texas State Comptroller's Office.   This is the sixth year the City has participated and the sixth year the City has earned the highest award.

The Comptroller of Public Accounts launched the Texas Comptroller Leadership Circle program in December 2009 to recognize local governments across Texas that are striving to meet a high standard for financial transparency online. The program spotlights those local governments that are:

  • opening their books to the public
  • providing clear, consistent pictures of spending
  • sharing information in a user-friendly format that lets taxpayers easily drill down for more detail.
